Topic outline

  • Mobility means discovery of a new culture, other way of living, exchanging, meeting and sharing, which is not as easy as it seems. Beside the logistical and organisation aspect, it is necessary to prepare participants to intercultural meeting and to make them ready to dive in a different environment. These are aspects which require deep thinking and mental preparation: if students are not expecting everything to be like home, they will be less frustrated and will adapt more easily to the new environment.

One of the most important aspects in mobility is that participants can, during their staying abroad, live the culture of the hosting country on a daily basis.

Sociocultural preparation supports participants in their path, helping them to understand and interpret the reality of the hosting country, to become more independent and responsible, to solve problems and misunderstandings and to live fully an experience of growth and development.

  • This kind of preparation includes the living and the social dimensions of the mobility. It does not consist in promoting the country from a touristic point of view, but rather in addressing everyday life aspects in order to ease the sociocultural integration of participants in the new context and foster the autonomy process.
